Phoenix – The Arizona Chapter National Safety Council (ACNSC), a nonprofit safety advocate with a mission to eliminate the leading causes of preventable death and injury, has added five new OSHA-focused courses to its training offerings. Designed for safety professionals and workers in construction, manufacturing, and general industries, the in-person classes — held in Phoenix — help participants stay current on safety standards and navigate common jobsite hazards.
The new courses include:
-
-
- OSHA Electrical Refresher: Covers OSHA electrical standards, hazard recognition, 70E best practices, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- OSHA Health Hazards Refresher: Focuses on worker health protections, including silica, ventilation, and heat illness prevention.
- OSHA Material Handling Refresher: Emphasizes forklift safety, rigging, hazardous material storage, and work zone safety.
- OSHA Work Platforms Refresher: Addresses ladder safety, scaffold safety, and Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).
- MEWP – Boom and Scissor Lifts: Meets OSHA and ANSI regulatory requirements with hands-on training and operator evaluations.
-
Each OSHA refresher course is four hours long. The MEWP – Boom and Scissor Lifts class is six hours long.
The courses are taught by Amber Pappas, a certified instructor trainer (CIT), certified safety professional (CSP), workplace safety and health consultant, and an authorized OSHA 1910 and 1926 trainer. In addition to her work with ACNSC, Amber is co-founder and president of Safety Help Today in Phoenix, bringing more than 20 years of industry experience to the classroom.
“In every conversation we have with our members and class participants, we’re listening for ways to deliver more of what they need,” said Rick Murray, ACNSC President and CEO. “We know that staying current on safety standards is critical — and these new offerings give safety professionals more options, more flexibility, and a full picture of the value we provide.”
In-person training offers clear benefits over online programs — including hands-on practice, real-time instructor feedback, peer interaction, and immediate skill application in a live setting.
