Phoenix – Arizona Chapter National Safety Council (ACNSC), a nonprofit safety advocate focused on eliminating preventable death and injury, is adding two new summer sessions of the National Safety Council’s Alive at 25 driver safety program for teens and young adults in Phoenix.
The four-hour in-person classes will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, and Saturday, July 18, at the ACNSC training facility in Phoenix. The course is being offered at a reduced rate of $25, discounted from the regular $75 registration fee.
A Course Focused on the Decisions That Save Lives
Alive at 25 is designed for drivers ages 15 to 24 and focuses on the real-life behaviors that place young drivers at greater risk behind the wheel. Instead of teaching vehicle operation, the course helps participants work through situations involving peer pressure, speeding, distraction from phones, impaired driving, and split-second decision-making.
Participants also review Arizona crash data, state driving laws, updated videos, and hands-on activities designed to help young drivers better understand the consequences of unsafe choices.
“One of the hardest parts of teaching kids to drive is preparing them for the pressures and distractions that happen once they’re out on the road,” said Rick Murray. “Alive at 25 gives young drivers practical tools to slow down, think through decisions, and recognize risks before a crash happens. If this course helps one family avoid a tragedy, it’s worth it.”
The Need Remains Urgent
Motor vehicle crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for U.S. teens, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Drivers ages 16 to 19 experience crash rates nearly three times higher per mile driven than drivers ages 20 and older.
In Arizona, nearly 600 drivers between the ages of 15 and 24 died in crashes from 2020 through 2024, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
