As temperatures rise across Arizona, so does the urgency to protect workers from heat-related illness. That’s the focus of a Valley Focus radio interview featuring ACNSC President and CEO Rick Murray, who was recently appointed to the state’s newly formed Arizona Workplace Heat Safety Task Force.
The Task Force, launched by Executive Order from Governor Katie Hobbs, brings together leaders in industry, labor, and occupational safety to develop clear, practical heat safety guidelines for employers. The goal: help prevent heat-related illness and injury across high-risk industries such as construction, agriculture, manufacturing, and warehousing.
Hosted by Kayla Mortellaro, Valley Focus is a radio program produced by Hubbard Radio Phoenix that highlights the work of nonprofits across the state. The program airs on KDUS AM 1060.
In the interview, Rick discusses:
-
Common misconceptions about heat risk in the workplace
-
Steps employers can take now to protect workers
-
How training and education play a central role in prevention
The conversation offers insight for employers, safety professionals, and policymakers working to adapt to Arizona’s extreme heat. Listen below.
